Choosing a career is never easy, although it is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Choosing where to study is the second most difficult decision to make.
DSJ offers the following support to our secondary school learners:
Grade 9: Career’s Day where the subject choice options and related career fields are introduced as learners choose their matric subjects at the end of grade 9.
Grade 10: Two weeks Betriebspraktikum/Job shadowing. This is compulsory for all grade 10 learners and is a valuable introduction to the world of work.
Grades 11 and 12: Career Expo Day, a display of tertiary training institutions as well as South African universities. Break-away sessions with career professionals.
Grades 11 and 12: Assessment testing, individual discussions for learners choosing to study in South Africa or in Germany.
Grades 10 – 12: Continuous Information sessions by universities and private tertiary training institutions.
Grade 12: Personality and interest test (Phoenix support center)
The following may assist you with your decisions:
Entry requirements: What subjects and results are required
Cost of studies: Loans, bursaries and scholarships available
Distance: Technology and online options, accommodation and travel
Job opportunities: Workplace, working environment, your personality
You are most welcome to come and discuss your options with me during any break and directly after school or email CareerCounssa@dsjmail.co.za
