Holiday Care is offered during all holidays. It is aimed at Kindergarten and Primary school children.
The benefits for the child and consequently also for the parents lies in:
In order to make the holidays interesting and varied for the children, we focus on a specific topic during the holidays. It can be related to a historical period, a cultural area, interesting ways of life or areas of our daily lives.
Stories are told on the topic, props are made, games are invented and tried out, food is prepared, instruments are made and used, plays are rehearsed and much more – all with a focus on the German language.
During the remaining time, the children have the opportunity to play freely, let off steam and put their own creative ideas into practice. Social games are played and relaxation and reading sessions are offered.
The full-day program runs from 7:00 to 17:30, the half-day program from 7:00 to 14:30.
The DSJ offers a varied afternoon program every day, tailored to every age group.
The primary goals of the aftercare program are:
The children are given the opportunity to spend the afternoon in a group of different ages.
After eating together, creative and sporting activities are offered that are based on the school calendar and the seasons. There is also the opportunity to play freely, put their own creative ideas into practice, play board games and have fun playing and romping around in the outdoor areas.
In this environment, the children can improve their basic language skills and expand many of their abilities and skills - especially in the social area.
The aftercare program for primary school children focuses primarily on supervision and support with homework. After lunch together, the children do their homework with the help of German-speaking teachers and prepare for class tests and exams.
They then read to improve their reading skills.
In the remaining time, this group also has the opportunity to play freely, put creative ideas into practice, engage in sporting activities and expand their social skills and abilities.
One focus is the basic expansion of German language skills, which is guaranteed by the German-speaking teachers.
Supervision and support with homework, preparation for class tests and examinations and the creation of projects and presentations are the main focus of aftercare for grades 5-9.
A reading time follows.
The supervision and support is provided in German so that the pupils can expand and improve their German vocabulary and thus their language skills at the same time.
Following homework time, spaces are created for interaction in playful and sporting activities so that the young people have the opportunity to contribute their social skills and abilities and also learn in this area.
As part of our comprehensive offerings, we also have Genius Hub for Grades 5-8.
Children, who would like to do their homework, preparations for tests, projects and spelling straight after school, have here the opportunity to work under the supervision of two teachers in a quiet environment. If needed, they get assistance and support.
If there are any gaps in their subjects, these will be addressed.
This programme is offered free of charge.
Our pupils can choose from a wide variety of extra mural activities, where they are given the opportunity to follow their personal peferences, to improve and strengthen their talents. Extra murals are offered by the Primary School as well as by the Secondary School.
You can find the extra-mural time table for each below.
The DSJ offers all pupils a bus service. In the morning we offer seven different routes from the northern, western, and eastern suburbs as well as four routes from the southern areas.
In the afternoon ten routes are offered from the DSJ to the different suburbs. On all routes the stops are indicated by the DSJ signs. Pupils may use any route as often as they like as the bus service is included in the school fees.
The DSJ operates on 4 school terms. The schedule and dates for the school terms for this year and next year can be found below. This includes the school holidays.
